cougar

Dreaming with Tigers, Lions and Dogs, OH MY!

Last week I had a dream that I was at a friends house. They have many dogs in their home. The owner of the house is a hunter. I am sitting in their living room and I have my two little puppies on my lap. The other dogs are laying down on the floor near me. Everything seems normal until a tiger and some mountain lions start circling us. They tell me they are trained and domesticated but I am still scared. One cougar starts playing with my puppy Luke but he is being too rough. I put my hand out to get him off and the cougar starts playing with my hand and biting it like a puppy bites to play. He thinks he is being gentle but he is not. I look down at my hand and it is being destroyed. I push his giant head away trying to get him off and then I wake up! EOD (end of dream)

I didn’t quite understand this dream at the time but now several days later I am slowly putting the pieces together. Yesterday my husband chose an oracle card. The card was called FIRE underneath it said “Take responsibility for your power”.fire

Today I decided to research Mountain Lion medicine to get a better understanding but it wasn’t until I saw this that I realized how perfect the card FIRE fit with the cougar message, my dream and real life situations. I used http://dreamoraclecards.com/

Why Do I Write What I Write? by Sherry Puricelli

Buddha_Tea_GardenRecently, author and blogger, Tzivia Gover, invited me to join her in a blog tour that highlights authors who write about intuitive understanding.
I first “met” Tzivia when we both led online group dream-sharing initiatives. At the time, my group dreamt with intentions for personal healing on the full moon, while Tzivia’s group dreamt with intentions for world healing on the new moon. I was hooked! Who was this amazing woman? What could I learn from her? Well, I didn’t realize it at the time, but I’d be learning a lot — and I’m learning still… Tzivia is the real deal! She LIVES her work! That means she LIVES mindfulness, she LIVES dreams, she LIVES poetry, she LIVES teaching, compassion, and life-long learning and she writes about it.
I encourage you to visit her blog where she shares tips for working with dreams as well as her own personal insights and deep insights. To learn more about Tzivia and her work visit her web site at http://www.tziviagover.com and her blog at http://www.thirdhousemoon.com.

For this blog tour I was asked to answer four questions about my writing. Here are my responses:

1. What am I working on now?

I typically work on several projects at the same time. Currently, in addition to my blogs, http://www.awakendream.com and http://dreamingglobalillumination.com, you’re likely to find me writing: “Mystic Illumination” or “I Dreamt Something Awful About You: Should I Say Something?”

Mystic Illumination Series: The Initiate, The Apprentice, and The Master – was inspired by dreams and waking life experiences. It’s a mystical journey that takes us deep into archetypal, life-changing themes. Like ancient stories of legend and myth, I’ve noticed that each of the themes has a challenge, a solution, and some type of ‘embedded change-energy’ that completely transforms the participant(s). Part of this journey was shared with friend and dream artist, Brenda Ferrimani. While experiencing the archetypal themes, Brenda created twelve artistic renderings and I wrote poetry and commentary.
It was never my intention to create a traditional tarot deck for conventional readings. Instead, Mystic Illumination invites you to experience archetypal energies as you’ve never experienced them before! Treat yourself by fully immersing yourself and you can experience the archetypes slowly, on a deep, meaningful level so you can make the changes you’re ready to make in your life.
By the way, Mystic Illumination: The Initiate – is now available for purchase! Browse the website if you want to learn more: http://dreamingglobalillumination.com

“I Dreamt Something Awful About You: Should I Say Something?” – is a presentation I’m writing for the 2014 PsiberDreaming Conference for the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD).
It was inspired when I had a warning dream that my friend was in danger. A few weeks later, that friend died. As you can imagine, I was quite upset! I had not given my friend the information from the dream and I wondered if her life could have been saved “if only.” In the past I’ve had warning dreams that turned out to be true. Some people who have these types of dreams can suffer from a condition that, in the dream community, is known as “dreamer’s guilt.”
In this presentation, I will share my story as well as a few stories from other dreamers who have also faced similar dilemmas such as: ‘should I tell?’ ‘How much should I tell?’ ‘What if I frighten someone?’ ‘How much is enough?’ ‘How much is too much?’ and so on……
I hope you’ll join us for this discussion and share your own stories, insights, and reflections. The Psiberdreaming Conference, aptly titled, “Dreaming with the Other,” will be taking place from September 28th until October 12th. You can get more information and register here: http://www.asdreams.org/psi2014/

My Blogs: I also write for two blogs, http://dreamingglobalillumination.com; where you’ll find updates to my Mystic Illumination project, and http://www.awakendream.com which I co-blog with Glory Nelson. We typically blog about our spiritual retreats, our unique way of working with synchronicities, and, of course, all about dreams.

2. How does my writing process work?

Well, that actually depends upon WHAT I’m writing. My blogs are frequently inspired by the archetypal patterns I’m noticing in my dreams and waking life experiences. My poetry, on the other hand, usually begins as a rhythm or phrase that just comes to me, sometimes in my sleep. It typically repeats until I finally write it down to give it a place to rest!

 3. How does my work differ from others in my genre?

I’ve been told that I have a unique approach, especially with the way I weave together my dreams and waking life synchronicities. While some see them as separate practices, I see all of it as one big life dream! As such, I recognize my deeper patterns and rhythms, using them to live the deeper story, the big dream, so to speak.
I call myself a modern-day mystic. I’m a mom, neighbor, and girlfriend, with all their ups and downs, in addition to being a life-long dreamer with a quest for wisdom and a search for deeper truths. My writing, I believe, is a reflection of my personal way of seeing the world. To all the other down-to-earth dreamers out there, I hope to be relatable, bringing spirituality to everyday life.

4. Why do I write what I do?

I feel “called” to write. It’s my way of sharing, of relating. I believe we’re only here on Earth for a brief moment in time. During that time, I hope to inspire and to be inspired.

Thank you so much for reading this.  And now I’m delighted to introduce the authors and bloggers who will continue the blog tour the next weeks with posts about their own fascinating work.  If you don’t already know them, you’ll want to check them out. You won’t be disappointed.

The Tower

Get a home inspection before the Tower shows up!!!

I love how synchronicity shows up at the best times.  So, for the past two days the subject of the Tower Card has come up for me. If you are unfamiliar with the Tarot, it can be a very scary card. The image of lightning hitting a tower and people jumping off can feel like the end of the world. This card, through the years, has taught me to see the blessings in its messages. My response to this card is usually about foundation and re-structuring.  It can shake us to the core and leave us feeling defeated but I always reassure people that this only happens when things need to change.  The structure is cracked and it is through the lightning (en-lighten-ment) that we recognize that things can’t continue going the way they were.

The past two days, I have been revisiting a relationship that is in a state of “tower”, and I have realized that Tower also invites us to look at patterns, the bricks that have built this relationship. After much inner reflection and the help from a little angel (Sherry), I was able to see the patterns that were unconsciously created. My patterns and the patterns of the other party have created this unstable tower.  So what do I do now? I get clear about my pattern and my role in it. I remember all the wonderful things I bring to this relationship and really get to the core, foundation, the root, the bottom, and the heart and ask the tough questions. Can I still be in this relationship?  If the answer is yes, can I be in this relationship and show up in the same way? Maybe, a new boundary may need to be set. The tower reminds us that a new foundation is needed in order to build again. Maybe the relationship has come to an end or the old way of being has come to an end. Either way, I think being honest and clear with myself and what I want moving forward will lead me to the answers that I seek.

Ok, ready for the synchronicity?  I have a home inspection scheduled for today.  No biggie, but because I am going through this Tower experience, I notice the connection of what a home inspection really is. It is the scanning of the home. The inspector looks at the structure, foundation and all the workings of the home to see what things are working properly and what needs repair. He has a meter that searches for leaks and moisture.  He can tell you if the roof needs a few shingles or needs to be completely re-done.

So the lesson for today…. Get your home, body, relationships, situations inspected from time to time. A quick scan of what’s happening before the Tower comes in and shakes, rattles and has you free falling, before the crumbling of something that might have needed a tweak here and there ends or causes worst damage.

Music – The Unifier

A few nights ago, I witnessed the most beautiful thing. I was invited to a church choir concert by a friend. This was no ordinary concert. Four different churches from different faiths were invited to sing, along with the very talented Westminster College Chamber Singers.

As I arrive at the Cottonwood Heights Presbyterian Church these amazing children ages 8 to 14 are playing the most incredible piece on their violins. I later found out they were taught the Suzuki Method, where they learn to play by ear at a very young age.  Each Choir then sings one to two songs, very true to their specific religion but all singing the Universal message of worship and love. My ears were in heaven. The young adults from Westminster College displayed their years of training by singing four songs and showcasing soloists that made you want to fall to your knees and cry. To conclude the concert and with the direction of Bruce Avery, my friend’s dad, all the choirs stood up and sang “The Lord’s Prayer”.  I could hear and feel the roaring sounds from beneath my feet. The power in their voices made me feel like I was in a safe place and nothing could harm me, and if it did, so what, I would die completely content and peacefully. If that wasn’t enough there was one last song where all choirs sang accompanied by the organ and the beautiful children violinists. A gathering like that can restore faith where one has lost it. I was so very blessed to have witnessed it!

With everything going on in this world, hope and faith sneak in at the most opportune time. Music is the one UNIFIER of all faiths and religions. Feeling the power of something greater than your self is truly amazing. Whether you are religious or not, find something that moves you, something that can bring you to tears and then you will know what is truly important in life.

WORD PLAY: Since I love playing with dream and synchronicity, let’s play with the word “unifier”. I thought uniter was a word but didn’t find it in the English dictionary, which led me to unifier. I look at this word and think of “One Fire” which then makes me think of “One Passion”.  What do you think of?

Note: I was so in the moment I didn’t get a chance to record such an amazing concert, so below is a couple of videos I found on youtube of the Westminster College Chamber Singers and Rocky Mountain Strings just to give you an idea. Enjoy!
